Board Positions

I misspoke at the general meeting on Wednesday in regard to board positions. It’s true we have not asked current board members if they’re interested in coming back (some do not have a choice), but even if they are, you are still welcome to run for most positions. We will be sharing information about board positions at the next general meeting.

I sincerely hope I did not discourage anyone from considering a board position. I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to become more involved with JWC. If you’re interested in becoming part of the board next year, please reach out to Becca Barry.

12.15.20 JWC Update

Executive Summary:

* Kindness and Joy
* December Service SignUp
* JWC Masks

Light Up Numbers

Thank you so much for your help making Light Up happen this year. Because of your combined 300+ volunteer hours it was a great success. We sold almost 800 kits and that number does not include the kits sold to businesses, given to sponsors and donated to public spaces. We had over 18,000 luminaries lighting up Wyoming on Saturday.

It was an absolute pleasure to co-chair the event with Becky Gilbert and Victoria Reed and we are grateful for the hours contributed by the Light Up Committee, which helped to make this year spectacular.

Together we raised $13,198

Next up for fundraising: the first JWC online poker tournament! This event will take place in February.

Spread Kindness and Joy

If you are participating in the Kindness and Joy gift exchange, please remember to surprise your “secret sister” with a little “joy” by the end of the month. Spending limit should be kept to about $15.

Feel free to share kindness, photos or “thank you’s” on the JWC Member’s page.

December Service Update

Thank you to everyone for all of your hard work in service already this year!  The service SUG is a little lighter this month because we know it is a special time to spend with family.  We are still gathering information for ways we can support WCS primary teacher/staff and I will share this with you all when it’s ready.

I wanted to give a little shout out for one opportunity this month collecting gently used coats and winter accessories for St. Vincent de Paul.  Last night I got out all of the cold stuff from my kiddos and found 4 coats to donate!!  Get in those closets and let me know what you find. The barrell will be out in front of my house until Dec. 31st.  Happy Holidays everyone!

12.7.20 JWC Update

Executive Summary:

* Light Up Wyoming
* Kindness and Joy
* December Service SignUp

Light Up Wyoming

Light Up is Saturday! This fundaiser requires hundreds of volunteer hours and we’re so grateful to everyone that has helped make Light Up happen this year.

If you have not ordered your kit yet, please do so ASAP. We have approximately 100 kits remaining.

We’re asking members who have ordered kits to please pick them up this week from Becky’s house (535 Larchmont). Becky’s number is (225) 892-7596. Please note you will need to stop by Oak Gym to grab a bag of sand.

If you volunteered to move sand bags from Oak Gym to the Civic Center, please be sure to do so before 10am Saturday. Due to the limited numbers of kits available on Saturday, you will only need to move 25 bags.

If you volunteered to set up, light up, and/or clean up kits you will receive an email from Kate this week with your location(s). If you are setting up, we will bring your kits (with folded bags!) and sand to your home.

We look forward to seeing some of you on Saturday at kit sales and around Wyoming as we light things up. Please remember to wear a mask.

Sign Up Genius

There are still a few opportunities to light candles and clean up kits.

Spread Kindness and Joy

If you are participating in the Kindness and Joy gift exchange, you should have received an email from Aubrie with the name of your secret sister. Please surprise your person with a little “joy” by the end of the month. Spending limit should be kept to about $15.

Feel free to share kindness, photos or “thank you’s” on the JWC Member’s page.
