President’s Update

Hello Wonderful Women of JWC,

Amy here! I’ve taken over the update this week. My original plan was to film a video, but {quite frankly}, I just couldn’t get it together. So this will have to do!

When we started this year, I told you that my personal mantra as your President is service over certainty. We’re only two months in and I’ve seen that lived out in this club over and over again.

A few of my favorite moments so far include:

  1. How Ashley Tubb and Ellen Michael pivoted to create a massively successful mums fundraiser! The beautiful plants on my porch make me smile daily.
  2. Seeing you all sign up for services to help others! Fun fact. A JWC member has volunteered for over 1 hour for every day of October. Amazing!
  3. Hearing the Fundraising Committees work together to creatively tackle pandemic-friendly plans.
  4. Having fun at the Village Green Social! Thanks again, Aubrie!
  5. Receiving thank yous from last year’s beneficiaries. It’s so fun to see our hard work come full circle!

All of this reminds me of the famous Margaret Thatcher quote: “If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.” This club gets things done!

There’s no doubt that we will have uncertain times ahead, but this group truly knows how to create so much positivity even when things are difficult. I continue to be so proud to be by your side.

In service,

Amy

October Service

A note from our Service Chair, Katie Conrad:

Happy Fall!  As discussed at our last general meeting we will be doing service a little different this year and rather than focusing on individual committees we will be publishing a list of service needs each month and members can feel free to sign-up for activities that work best for them!  There are a variety of activities available this month, some that can be done alone at home or in small groups.  Donations can also be made if you are tight on time this month and still want to give.  Each activity has a point person listed at the top of the Sign-Up Genius please email them or myself with any questions.  Some of the activities have specific deadlines but if not listed we ask that you complete them all by Oct. 31st!  Happy to serve with you all.

Please click here for the October Service SignUp.

November Meeting

The November 18th General Meeting will be held at 7 pm virtually via video conference. Please keep an eye on the calendar for updates!

Sponsorship Opportunity

If you know of someone interested in becoming a new or returning JWC sponsor, please email the Sponsorship Chair: monaberkemeyer@jwc-wyoming.org .  Sponsorship is accepting sponsor commitments through October 26th so don’t delay if you have a sponsor name to share with the sponsorship committee!

The Good of this Club

Did you use Pick-A-Time to schedule your conferences? We funded that! 🙂

Fall Mum Sale!

Image may contain: text

The JWC Mum Sale is live! We are off to a fantastic start with our first ever mum sale! Thanks to the committee’s hard work we have already brought in over $1,000 in gross sales!!!

A few special shout outs go to Carrie Geygan for her amazing artwork and Lisa Gozal for her tech wizardry. This was truly an all-hands-on-deck effort to bring this fundraiser to fruition so quickly.

Please make sure to help us spread the word interacting with our Facebook posts. Our committee is working on the plan for distributing the mums in mid-September. Be on the lookout for a sign-up genius sometime next week or early the following.

We are partnering with Heartfelt Tidbits to help Mt. Airy Elementary School purchase supplies for outdoor activities and sanitizing items for the classrooms. If you’re able to help, the links in the comments are examples of what we are looking for, but similar purchases are fine. Sign up below!

Concert? Drive-In Movie? Fall Mum Sale!

As you might have heard, our Summer Concert Committee has been working to develop a replacement fundraiser due to COVID-19 restrictions. Our first plan was to hold a Drive-In Movie, but after further consideration, we have decided to not move forward with that plan.

Our amazing Summer Concert Chairs, Ashley and Ellen, are now working to develop a Fall Mum Fundraiser. We feel this will be universally appealing to our community and allow us to socially distance while spreading cheer!

If you are currently on the Summer Concert Committee you will be hearing from Ashley and Ellen with the next steps. If you are interested in helping with this new fundraiser, please contact Ashley or Ellen for more information.

Again, a big thank you to everyone who is working on this change. This is definitely #notyourmumsJWC!

{badump, bump}

{Take that, COVID19!}

Here’s a celebration of all that we accomplished this year!

And, we just had to celebrate our fearless leader, Becca, during this virtual insanity!!!

04.23.20 – JWC Update

Thank you to everyone who attended the JWC Virtual Meeting last week. While we are sad that we can’t spend time with you in person to celebrate the end of our year, we hope that we will be able to toast to an amazing year in the coming months as social distancing measures relax.

Sweet Cheeks Diaper Drive

Even though we are no longer meeting in person, we can still support one of our favorite charities, Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank with a diaper drive from now until May 14th. There are two ways that you can help:

  1. Make a donation so Sweet Cheeks can use their vendor relationships to purchase diapers at a discount. Donate here: https://sweetcheeksdiaperbanks.z2systems.com/donation.jsp?campaign=20&
  2. Drop off a donation of diapers to Lynn Haid at 641 Flagstaff Drive.

Thank you to Lynn for organizing this initiative!

03.16.20 – JWC Update

Ladies of JWC, coming to you with a very special weekly update. As we all scramble to rearrange our lives to #levelthecurve, let’s all take a moment to be grateful for one and other. It’s times like these that we are reminded that women’s clubs were started with the mission of community welfare. We have a signficant opportunity to lift up and serve our community during this time and to live out our mission of friendship, serivice, and philantrhopy. Thank you for all you do!

Wyoming Carry-Out Connection is the City of Wyoming’s initiative to provide meals from our local businesses to those who need them. Please visit this link to learn more and participate.

Shamrocks & Pot O Gold:

Thank you to everyone who has participated in Shamrocks & Pot O Gold. We are especially grateful to our chairs, Raquel Bevington and Erin Daugherty, and the Shamrock Committee. A few updates:

  • Please sign up for shifts to move shamrocks. The more helpers the easier it is to socially distance. You will typically only have to pick up at one house and drop at another, so this is a great way to get out of the house with your family!
  • Please continue to promote and purchase Pot O Gold tickets. We know how vital these funds will be for the organizations that we support, so let’s raise all we can. The pot is currently up to over $700! Ticket sales close down on 3/17 at 5:00 PM. The drawing will be held via Facebook Live at 6:30 PM on 3/17. Thank you to Helen McCormick for leading up STP.
