HISTORY

The Junior Woman's Club of Wyoming was founded by a group of women who met for the first time at the Wyoming Golf Club in February, 1948. In our growing community they wished to promote a friendly group of women of their age group for social and service purposes.

Coincidentally, the old Civic Center building burned down about this time. Helping to rebuild and refurbish the Civic Center became on one of the club's first projects. The club continued to serve the community and neighboring institutions in a variety of ways: furnishing volunteer personnel to institutions and community groups and supplying needed funds for worthwhile community projects.

The Junior Woman's Club of Wyoming incorporated December 18, 1968, as a corporation not for profit.

In 2000, due to its fundraising efforts, JWC formed the Junior Woman's Club of Wyoming Foundation, a publicly supported charitable, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
